RICHMOND, Va. (WJLA) — Joe Morrissey defeated incumbent Sen. Rosalyn Dance in a Richmond-area Senate district race in the Virginia Democratic primary.
Morrissey served time in jail years ago after being involved in a scandal where he was accused of having sex with his teenage secretary. He later married the teen and they have three children.

According to the Associated Press, Morrissey denied wrongdoing in the scandal but entered an Alford plea to a misdemeanor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and acknowledged prosecutors had enough evidence for a conviction.
An Alford Plea is a guilty plea entered by a criminal defendant who does not admit guilt but pleads guilty as part of a plea bargain, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary.
