It has surpassed those forecasts with an initial opening weekend of over $40 million. Variety reports the film cost $130 million to make, and it features vocal talent from Rihanna , Jennifer Lopez , and Steve Martin . Rihanna not only voices the lead character, Gratuity “Tip” Tucci, but she contributed the songs “As Real As You and Me” and “Dancing In the Dark” to the film’s soundtrack. “Dialogue was one of the challenge I had to work through,” Rihanna said, in a recent interview with PopSugar . “It was one of th...

Report: Hillary Clinton deleted 32,000 'personal' emails

B-13 PEER REVIEW: This is a very serious issue! I don't understand how is it that the state department doesn't just get a warrant and seize her server. There are parellel justice systems in this country. One for the people that says ignorance of the law is not excuse for breaking the law. Then there is another justice department the governs the elite. They get away with murder literally. How is there are no laws being made to fix this nor subpoenas being issue to seize her servers? Why is she left to decide what is to be submitted? She made the choice to take work home therefore all of her communications should be fair game. Her server her phones and all communications should be scrutinized. I don't understand she could be committing treason, but she is a juggernaut this STINKS of oligarchy! The Clinton's has a history of impropriety. Any average citizen with a track record like theirs would have been arrested all of their communications seized and the governme...

Atlanta Criminal Defense Lawyer Gets Reversal of $100 Fine for Missing Court

Image
An Atlanta criminal defense attorney has beaten a $100 fine a Henry County judge levied on him for missing a client's court date. A panel of the Georgia Court of Appeals on Friday tossed the fine issued to Jackie Patterson. The appeals court said Henry County State Court Judge James Chafin III erred in issuing the fine because the judge had said Patterson's actions were negligent, not willful. To hold a party in contempt, the appeals court said, a court must find that the subject of the contempt order was willfully disobedient. As recounted in court filings, the fine stemmed from a March 2014 court date at which one of Patterson's clients, charged with driving with a suspended license, was supposed to be arraigned. When Patterson didn't appear, the Henry County judge postponed the arraignment to April 4, 2014. He also set a contempt hearing for Patterson to coincide with his client's new court date. Patterson appeared at the April 4 hearing ...

DEA Agent Speaks Out: We Were Told Not to Enforce Drug Laws In Rich Communities

Image
“‘You know, if we go out there and start messing with those folks, they know judges, they know lawyers, they know politicians. You start locking their kids up; somebody’s going to jerk our chain.’ He said, ‘they’re going to call us on it, and before you know it, they’re going to shut us down, and there goes your overtime.'” Washington DC – As the lies that keep the drug war alive begin to come unglued, many of the police officers and government agents who made it possible are now going public with the truth of their experience. Matthew Fogg, a former US Marshal, and DEA agent is one of those people. Ever since leaving law enforcement he has been speaking out against police brutality, profiling, and the drug war. Fogg appeared in an interview for Brave New Films, where he discussed the drug war and how race and class play a part the enforcement of drug laws. In the interview, Fogg said, “ We were jumping on guys in the middle of the night, all of that. Swooping down ...

For-Profit Prisons Are Bad, But the Drug War Is the Problem

Critics of for-profit prisons have a point. But they’re just a symptom of the over-criminalization epidemic that started with government. In the last few years, as a surprisingly bipartisan backlash against American over-criminalization has grown, many justice reformers have noticed, and rightfully critiqued, private prisons. The stalwart American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is uncomfortable   with the idea of profiteering from mass incarceration and notes that the industry’s bread and butter is putting and keeping people behind bars. The Methodist and Presbyterian churches, and some Catholic dioceses, are starting to come out in opposition to the multibillion-dollar private prison industry. Liberal outlets like Think Progress and Alternet publish fearful exposes about these powerful, amoral corporations. And they have good points, these upset people. They note how private prisons held 128,195 people back in December 2010. That’s only about 5.5 percent of the total popula...

Obama Says HBCUs Are Failing Students, Others Say First Black President Is Failing HBCUs

Image
Although President Obama gave a well received speech on race over the weekend in Selma, leaders at historically black colleges, as well as some black lawmakers, say the president needs to put some action behind his lofty words.     President Obama touts achievement in the black community, but his policies have actually hurt HBCUs. Blacks were hit hardest during the recession and HBCUs have felt that impact. HBCUs, which serve a disproportionate number of poor students, have found themselves cash strapped and Obama’s policies have only worsened the financial solvency of HBCUs. BreakingBrown reported extensively on Department of Education policies that hurt HBCUs, such as PLUS loan changes, but Obama doesn’t view it that way. During a meeting between Obama and black lawmakers, Obama said HBCUs need to graduate more students without burdening them with loans. Some lawmakers who attended the meeting said Obama didn’t have sympathy for the plight of HBCUs. ...

Saudi Arabia's Secret $49 Trillion Deal with Congress

Image
Saudi Arabia is making a play against America. The crazy part is... it's a play that our Congress literally signed off on.    Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bank has begun quietly accumulating trillions of dollars in one of Wall Street's most complex, unsecured financial instruments, a move which seemed incredibly risky until... The Obama administration pushed new legislation through Congress written virtually word for word by his bank. And the key passage includes a taxpayer-funded "insurance policy" covering their $49-trillion bet.     Now this deal is just the latest warning signal received by the U.S. Intelligence community. And one CIA Insider is now going public with startling evidence that suggests an unstoppable economic collapse could be triggered at any moment. He reveals everything in this must-see interview.

LAPD Police Shoot and Kill Homeless Man (full video)

Image
Three Los Angeles police officers shot and killed a man on the city's Skid Row during a struggle over one of the officers' guns, authorities said late Sunday. The shooting, which took place shortly after noon Sunday, garnered widespread attention after video captured by a bystander was posted on Facebook . The video shows four officers struggling with the man near a curb when the clicking of what sounds like a stun gun is heard and then about five shots ring out. Someone is heard yelling, "Drop the gun,'' right before the shots are heard. Onlookers then accost the officers at the scene. The video was apparently posted online within hours of the death by a man named Anthony Blackburn. LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith said the officers, one of whom is a sergeant, were responding to a report of a robbery and used lethal force after a stun gun proved ineffective. He added that the department was aware of the video, and and would attempt to amplify its sound...

NBC Warns: All Americans Will Be Microchipped In Less Than 3 Years

Image
With global events taking on a more ominous tone, people are turning to religion and the Bible for an explanation of what’s going on?  The Bible mentions a world leader coming to the stage to solve all the world’s problems. People have taken to calling this person the Anti-Christ. The Bible even goes so far as to say that he implements a mark or some form of currency that everyone under his rule will have to adhere by. A mark on their hand or forehead that signifies their allegiance to the Beast. No one under his rule will be able to buy or sell without this mark. Over the centuries man has pondered what this mark is. People used to say it would just be a tattoo, because there was no modern technology to compensate. Now with computers, some people think it’s the actual internet, or smart phones themselves. There is a new emerging technology of implantable RFID chips. These chips are already widely used to track large shipments. They are in passports. They ...

Three Ferguson employees are currently out of jobs after racist emails discovered during the course of the U.S. Department of Justice’s investigation of the city’s racial bias against African-Americans in the police department and judicial system. Capt. Rick Henke and Sgt. William Mudd of the Ferguson police department resigned from the force on Thursday and the city’s top court clerk Mary Ann Twitty was fired earlier in the week once emails showing President Barack Obama as a chimpanzee were found in the DOJ’s investigation.   CNN is reporting several of the employees shared and forwarded the emails but none of them were punished, until now.  MUST READ:   Justice Department: Ferguson Officer Darren Wilson Did Not Violate Michael Brown’s Civil Rights Other disgusting emails featured a topless woman dancing in Africa with the caption, “ Michelle Obama’s High School Reunion,” was sent Oct. 2011 and in June of th...

Hillary Clinton Emails: A Timeline of What Rules Were Allegedly Ignored

Image
Liz Kreutz More from Liz » Shushannah Walshe More from Shushannah » Hillary Clinton ’s use of a private email system rather than a government-run account while serving as Secretary of State has raised questions about what rules she may have broken, whether she knew she was in violation, and who else knew about her private system. ABC News has now identified at least two ways in which Clinton may have broken federal rules. During her tenure at the State Department she appears to have violated an existing 2005 rule. And after her tenure, it appears that she did not heed a 2013 rule change that may have put her in violation.  For her part, Clinton recently tweeted that she "want[s] the public to see my email" -- but that process will take months and will only apply to email that her team self-selected to hand over to the State Department.  Here is a full timeline of Clinton's history with email...

Red Summer

In 1919, white Americans visited awful violence on black Americans. So black Americans decided to fight back.   Men outside of the office of black Chicago businessman Jesse Binga, summer of 1919. “During Chicago’s riot,” writes David Krugler, “African-Americans gathered on street corners in the riot zone to share news and to form self-defense forces.” Photo by Jun Fujita. Courtesy of the Chicago History Museum (ICHi-65481). In Longview, Texas, in July 1919, S.L. Jones, who was a teacher and a local distributor of the black newspaper the Chicago Defender , investigated the suspicious death of Lemuel Walters. Walters was a black man who was accused of raping a white woman, jailed, and ultimately found dead under “mysterious” circumstances. When the Defender published a story about Walters’ death, asserting that the alleged rape had been a love affair and Walters’ death the result of a lynching, Jones came under attack, beaten by the ...
