205,832 views Genesis 5:32 indicates that Noah became the father of Shem , Ham and Japheth from the age of 500 years old, but does not list in detail their specific years. (Noah was 600 years old at the time of the flood in Genesis 7.) An incident involving Ham is related in Genesis 9:20-27 .  And Noah began to be an husbandman, and planted a vineyard: and he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent. And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.  And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his youngest son had done unto him. And he said, Cursed be Canaan; A servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. And he said, Blessed be the L ORD , t...

Image
June is an excellent month for Black Americans. We have Men’s Health Month, Father’s Day, and Juneteenth. Three significant occasions that should prompt all of us to step up and claim our leadership roles within the respective communities we live, work and play in. Black women do a stellar job of supporting each other, and this is something we as men should mirror. From #BlackGirlMagic, women’s empowerment events, business initiatives, sisterhood, and more. This is a month where we are celebrating black liberation, fathers, and health. Among this, we should use this month as a call to arms and action. For this month, we are focusing on truly being ‘My Brothers Keeper.' To accomplish this, it’s time to lend a hand to other brothers in need. It is something simple as giving a friend who rides transit a ride to key places, supporting a business owned by a black man, donating to a brother founded organization, taking in a few boys as mentees this summer a...

Why Trickle Down Economic Works in Theory But Not in Fact  Trickle-down economics is a theory that claims benefits for the wealthy trickle down to everyone else. These benefits are tax cuts on businesses, high-income earners,  capital gains , and  dividends . Trickle-down economics assumes investors, savers, and company owners are the real drivers of growth. It promises they’ll use any extra cash from  tax cuts  to expand businesses. Investors will buy more companies or stocks. Banks will increase lending. Owners will invest in their operations and hire workers. All of this expansion will trickle down to workers. They will spend their wages to drive  demand  and economic growth. Trickle-Down Economic Theory Trickle-down economic theory is similar to  supply-side economics . That theory states that all  tax cuts , regardless of whether they are for businesses or workers , spur economic growth. ...

The Cafe' [Think Tank]- Freedmen’s Bureau Acts of 1865 and 1866

Image
On March 3, 1865, Congress passed “ An Act to establish a Bureau for the Relief of Freedmen and Refugees ” to provide food, shelter, clothing, medical services, and land to displaced Southerners, including newly freed African Americans. The Freedmen’s Bureau was to operate “during the present war of rebellion, and for one year thereafter,” and also established schools, supervised contracts between freedmen and employers, and managed confiscated or abandoned lands. The battle to establish the Freedmen’s Bureau, and then to extend the legislation one year later, was a major factor in the struggle between President Andrew Johnson and Radical Republicans in Congress over Reconstruction and the role of the federal government in integrating four million newly emancipated African Americans into the political life of the nation. In 1863 Representative T. D. Eliot of Massachusetts proposed a bill establishing a bureau of emancipatio...
